Brian James, a 57-year-old resident of Bartica in Region #7, appeared in the Bartica Magistrate Court today before His Worship Magistrate Tariq Mohamed. He faced charges for driving a motor vehicle with a breath alcohol level exceeding the legal limit.

The charge was brought under Section 39A (1) of the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Act, as amended by the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Amendment Act #17 of 2022.
James pleaded guilty and was fined $250,000, or, in default of payment, he faces three months of imprisonment. This case highlights the ongoing efforts to combat drunk driving in the region.
