Camex Restaurants Inc. today celebrated its 20th anniversary in Guyana with the grand opening of a transformed and expanded location in New Amsterdam — the first facility in Berbice to house the company’s three flagship brands, Church’s Chicken, Mario’s Pizza and Dairy Queen, under one roof.

The launch, which ushers in a year-long national anniversary campaign under the theme “Feel The Love,” commemorates two decades of service and community partnership since Camex opened its first Church’s Chicken restaurant in Guyana in 2006. The event drew local dignitaries, corporate partners and community representatives, including New Amsterdam Mayor Wainwright McIntosh and members of the Berbice Chamber of Commerce.
Camex said the new facility represents a major investment in the region and has created 20 new jobs, reinforcing the company’s commitment to Berbice’s economic development. Officials at the ceremony included Dhara Cumberbatch, Operations Director at Camex Restaurants Inc., and marketing representative Latoya Martin. The company also introduced its newly inducted brand ambassador, Samuel Medas.
“This is about more than a store expansion; it’s about celebrating 20 years of partnership with the people of Guyana and continuing to grow alongside the communities we love,” said Dhara Cumberbatch. She added that the New Amsterdam investment is only the beginning, with Camex in advanced planning stages for additional locations along the Berbice coast.
Marketing representative Latoya Martin described the “Feel The Love” campaign as built around three commitments — love for customers, love for growth and love for community — and said the anniversary year will focus on giving back, expanding the company’s reach and creating moments of joy across Guyana.
Camex emphasized that its expansion goes beyond food service to support community development, aiming to create welcoming spaces where families gather and memories are made. The company operates franchises for Church’s Chicken, Mario’s Pizza and Dairy Queen and said it remains committed to quality, customer service and community involvement across Guyana as it moves into its third decade of operation.
