A police operation led by Deputy Superintendent has resulted in the discovery and destruction of two significant cannabis farms at Yarrowkabra Backdam on Friday, June 13, 2025.

The first farm spanned two acres and contained approximately 4,500 cannabis plants ranging in height from three to five feet. Authorities also found a makeshift camp at the site, which included a barrel containing around 140 pounds of dried cannabis. The second farm, measuring one acre, held about 1,500 cannabis plants, each ranging from one to two feet in height.
Both farms, along with the dried cannabis and live plants, were destroyed by fire. The estimated street value of the narcotics eradicated is approximately $21,083,664.
This operation highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat illegal drug cultivation in the region. Further investigations are expected to follow as authorities continue to address the issue of drug trafficking.
