– Two Chinese businessmen were reportedly robbed of $1.2 million in cash and a cellphone on Thursday while traveling in a bus along Leopold Street.

According to a police release, preliminary investigations indicate that the victims were heading west on Leopold Street when they stopped at the intersection of Leopold and Breda Streets. They were approached by four identifiable males.
One suspect allegedly opened the driver’s side door, accessed two black haversacks located between the front seats, and removed the items, which included $1.2 million in Guyanese currency and a cellular phone. The attacker also reportedly struck both victims in the face before fleeing the scene.
The suspects escaped in a western direction. Police noted that CCTV cameras in the area are being reviewed as part of the ongoing investigation into the robbery. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
