Travis Chase Reports : A chartered aircraft carrying seven Guyanese citizens who were deported from the United States landed at Cheddi Jagan International Airport on Tuesday afternoon.

The aircraft made a stop in Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic, before arriving in Guyana.

Sources indicate that local police took the six males and one female into custody upon arrival and escorted them to Georgetown. They are expected to be processed at CID Headquarters before being released.

This marks the first group of Guyanese citizens to be sent back from the U.S. following former President Donald Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigrants.
