Police are investigating a tragic accident that occurred early on Friday, November 28, 2025, around 3:38 AM along the Good Hope Public Road.

The incident involved a motor vehicle, PAG 9310, owned by Paray Kuldip and driven by 44-year-old Julius Mandella Haniff, a resident of Lot Edinburgh, East Bank Berbice. Also in the car was 39-year-old Yurajwatie Hussain, who is currently pregnant and shares the same address as Haniff.
Initial reports indicate that the vehicle was traveling west on the southern lane of the Good Hope Public Road when the driver lost control on the wet roadway, a consequence of recent rainfall. The car subsequently crashed into a concrete utility pole situated on the southern grass parapet.
Both occupants suffered injuries and were assisted by good Samaritans at the scene before being transported to the Mahaicony Cottage Hospital. They received medical attention, with Hussein being discharged later that day. Unfortunately, Haniff succumbed to his injuries at approximately 10:10 AM this morning.
The police have confirmed that investigations into the accident are ongoing as they seek to determine the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
