Solomon Ellis, a 34‑year‑old farmer of Lot 235 Charity Housing Scheme, Essequibo Coast, pleaded guilty on Monday to refusing to provide a breath specimen for a breath alcohol test, contrary to Section 39B(5) of the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Act, Chapter 51:02.
The offence occurred on Saturday, October 25, 2025, along Charity Public Road, Essequibo Coast. The matter was heard on March 16, 2026, at the Charity Magistrate’s Court before His Worship Magistrate Ravindra Mohabir. Ellis changed his plea from not guilty to guilty during the hearing.
Magistrate Mohabir fined Ellis $30,000. In default of payment, the fine carries a sentence of three months’ imprisonment.
