Five individuals have been taken into custody following a robbery at a supermarket on the La Bonne Intention Public Road on Friday.

According to police reports, two males entered the supermarket, with one allegedly stealing eight packs of cheese and concealing them on his person. The robbery was captured on the establishment’s CCTV system.
After the theft, the suspects, along with other occupants of a motor vehicle, attempted to flee the scene. However, responding police ranks were able to intercept the vehicle at Triumph Public Road, ECD.
Those in custody include:
A 48-year-old construction worker from Campbellville, Georgetown (driver)
A 35-year-old construction worker from Stevedore Housing Scheme, South Ruimveldt, Georgetown
A 28-year-old from Section ‘C’, Sophia, ECD
A 35-year-old gold miner from Princess Street, Lodge, Georgetown
A 19-year-old stevedore from South Ruimveldt, Georgetown
During the interception, a cutlass was recovered from the vehicle, which has since been lodged as evidence. Police investigations are ongoing as they work to gather further details about the incident and the suspects involved.
