During their training, the cadets covered advanced topics including clinical anatomy (Level Two), pharmacology, nursing, emergency medicine, internal medicine, basic surgery, traumatology, and obstetrics and gynecology. They also engaged in medical ethics and completed a clinical attachment at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.

Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Nigel Langhorne, Officer Commanding the Medical Corps and Director of the course, expressed pride in the graduates during the official closing ceremony. He emphasized the critical role they will play within the GDF, stating, “Your role as military medics becomes even more crucial. You are not just healthcare providers but protectors of our nation’s stability—especially in remote areas where access to medical services is limited.”

Langhorne underscored that the health and wellbeing of ranks stationed in these regions directly impact the GDF’s capacity to maintain sovereignty. He highlighted the importance of readiness, professionalism, skill, dedication, and compassion in their new roles.

The ceremony also recognized outstanding achievements among the graduates. Corporal Calwin Thomas was named the Best Student overall and received the award for Best Student in Medicine, while Petty Officer Jamal Darrell was honored as the Runner-up Student. Both received prizes for their exceptional performance.

Lieutenant Colonel Langhorne urged the graduates to remain mission-focused and to uphold the dignity and pride of their uniform and the institution they represent.
