The Chief of Defence Staff, along with Officers and Ranks of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF), extends heartfelt congratulations to Major Kesha Shepperd for her successful completion of the International Military Cooperation Course (IMCC) at the Netherlands Defence College, located at the Majoor Jan Linzel Complex in The Hague.

The IMCC aims to broaden participants’ perspectives on current and emerging peace and security challenges at both global and regional levels, emphasizing the role of international military cooperation in addressing these issues.

Major Shepperd’s training commenced with the successful completion of several online preparatory modules and assignments before the in-country phase began in early June 2025. The residential component of the course lasted one month and covered critical subjects, including:

Peace and Security Challenges

Multilateral Cooperation

International Law and the Law of Armed Conflict

Military Diplomacy

The course cohort consisted of nineteen military officers and three civilian professionals. Major Shepperd stands out as the first female officer and the third officer from the GDF to complete this prestigious program. Her achievement is particularly significant in the context of the Force’s ongoing strategic development efforts.
