Joshua Hunter, a 23-year-old gold miner from the Squatting Area of Helena #1 Village, has been arrested and charged with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking. This charge is pursuant to Section 5(1)(a)(i) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Control) Act, Chapter 10:10.
Hunter was apprehended on March 8, 2026, in the Mahaica Market Area after he was found in possession of 52 grams of cannabis.
On Tuesday, March 10, 2026, he appeared before Magistrate A. Wilson at the Mahaicony Magistrate’s Court, where the charge was read to him. He pleaded not guilty and was subsequently granted bail in the amount of G$50,000.
The case has been adjourned to March 31, 2026, for further proceedings.
