Mark Grant, a 30-year-old laborer of Lot 502 Onderneeming Sand Pit, Essequibo Coast, has been charged with several offenses regarding his conduct while driving. The charges stem from an incident that occurred on Saturday, February 7, 2026, on Mainstay Public Road.

The charges against Grant include:
Driving Whilst Breath Alcohol Level Exceeded the Prescribed Limit, violating Section 39A (1) of the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Act, as amended by the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic (Amendment) Act 17 of 2022.
Unlicensed Driver, contrary to Section 23 (1) of the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Act.
Breach of Insurance, violating Section 3 (1) of the Motor Vehicle Insurance (Third Party Risk) Act.
The case was brought before the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, February 26, 2026, where His Worship Magistrate Mr. Ravindra Mohabir presided. Upon hearing the charges, Grant pleaded guilty to all counts.

Driving Whilst Breath Alcohol Level Exceeded the Prescribed Limit: Fined $200,000, with a default of six months imprisonment if the fine is not paid.

Breach of Insurance: Fined $40,000, also with a default of three months imprisonment.
