Police are investigating the alleged murder of 46-year-old Jenny Mohamed, known as ‘Baby’, a woman of East Indian descent residing at Lot 368, Section ‘D’ Non-Pariel, East Coast Demerara. Jenny was reported missing on Thursday, June 12, 2025, after her husband, Rasheed Mohamed, stated she was last seen at their home around 6:15 AM on June 10, 2025.

Following the missing person report, officers from the Vigilance Police Station conducted a search of the premises on June 13 but found no signs of disturbance. However, further inquiries revealed that Jenny had communicated with her sister daily until June 10, after which contact ceased. During this period, her husband reported a family argument on the night of June 9, where Jenny allegedly told their daughter to move out.
On June 16, police returned to the residence and discovered suspected bloodstains on a couch, walls, and floors. A human blood field test confirmed the presence of blood, prompting a forensic examination of the home. Jenny’s husband was subsequently detained for questioning.
Investigators conducted a cordon and search operation in the area on June 17, resulting in the arrest of Jenny’s son-in-law, a 28-year-old auto electrician, and her 25-year-old daughter, a housewife. Forensic teams confirmed multiple areas in the home tested positive for human blood, and a handwritten note from Jenny was found, raising suspicion.
During questioning on June 19, Jenny’s daughter confessed that she and her common-law husband had murdered Jenny on June 10, detailing the violent act, which involved stabbing and strangling her with a rope. The body was reportedly wrapped in a garbage bag and disposed of in a trench along Eccles New Road, East Bank Demerara. Investigators later recovered the decomposed body, which bore multiple stab wounds and had a rope tied around the neck.
Further interviews with the son-in-law and husband led to additional admissions regarding their involvement in the crime.
What began as a missing person case has now escalated into a full-scale murder investigation. All three suspects remain in custody as police continue their inquiries, and a file is being prepared for legal advice.
