In a spirited final rally before Election Day on September 1, Bharrat Jagdeo, General Secretary of the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C), confidently predicted a sweeping majority for the party. Addressing a crowd of thousands at the Lusignan rally, Jagdeo reiterated his past forecasts, recalling his accurate prediction of the party’s success in the 2020 elections.

“Tonight, I stand here again, as Vice President and General Secretary, even more confident that we will win the elections,” Jagdeo stated, emphasizing the growth of the PPP/C since then. “I’m a man who doesn’t say things easily… but if I say I’m confident, then I am confident. I am very, very confident going into these elections—not because of arrogance, but because of what I’ve seen on the ground across Guyana.”
He cited the party’s successes in recent local government elections, specifically highlighting victories in areas historically dominated by the opposition, APNU. “In local government elections, we had sweeping victories in many areas previously dominated by APNU. Our party has grown, and I look forward to calling this party the largest Afro-Guyanese party in Guyana after these elections,” he added.
Jagdeo also urged supporters to remain vigilant against misinformation, warning that opposition-aligned influencers would ramp up efforts to mislead voters in the lead-up to the elections. He called on all PPP/C supporters to stay united and focused as they approach the polls.
With enthusiasm in the air, the rally concluded with a sense of optimism and determination among the party faithful as they prepare for the upcoming election.
