In a passionate address, James Bond emphasized the importance of voting rights for Afro-Guyanese, declaring it an inalienable right enshrined in the Constitution. He spoke to the historical struggles for universal suffrage, better wages, and the advancement of women and youth, highlighting the integral role of the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) in these movements.

“The history of political struggle is intertwined with the PPP/C,” Bond stated, referencing notable figures like Eusi Kwayana and Linden Forbes Sampson Burnham. He asserted that the PPP/C is currently stronger and more diverse than ever, with President Irfaan Ali prioritizing national unity.
Bond expressed confidence in the party’s future, citing Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo’s assertion that the PPP/C will become the largest Afro-Guyanese political party. “Afro-Guyanese who were once hesitant to align with the PPP/C now proudly wear its colors,” he noted, acknowledging the party’s investments in communities even when support was not guaranteed in the 2020 elections.
He also addressed the derogatory labels often directed at supporters of the party, emphasizing that President Ali and Vice President Jagdeo have defended them against such insults. “I am a proud Black man,” he declared, urging others to continue their commitment to the PPP/C.
Bond called on Afro-Guyanese to seize the moment and join the movement towards unity under President Ali’s leadership. “Don’t miss this moment. JOIN the majority of Guyanese on this journey of unity,” he urged, affirming that despite differences, Ali represents their interests.
He concluded by urging voters to choose the PPP/C, citing its record of creating pathways to jobs, wealth, and education. “In this regard, there is only one choice: the People’s Progressive Party/Civic. VOTE PPP/C on September 1,” he proclaimed.
