The Ministry of Amerindian Affairs, Guyana, invites applications for the following positions:

  1. NURSING ASSISTANT

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Certificate in Nursing Assistant registrable with the General Nursing Council of Guyana
  • Completing the Nursing Assistant Training Course and registration with the General Nursing Council of Guyana.
  1. PATIENT CARE ASSISTANT

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Full primary education plus two (2) to six (6) months of formal training in care of the elderly, home nursing, or first aid. OR
  • Full primary education plus a minimum of two (2) years of experience gained as a subordinate employee in hospital services.
  1. ASSISTANT COOK/MAID

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A sound primary education, ability, and practical knowledge of cooking, plus a valid food handler’s certificate. OR
  • Vocational qualification in cooking plus a valid food handler’s certificate.

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Experience in the preparation of indigenous meals will be an asset.
  1. KITCHEN ASSISTANT

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Certificate in Home Management.
  • Proven ability and practical knowledge of cooking, plus a valid food handler’s certificate.
  1. HANDYMAN

Minimum Qualification, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • A complete primary school education must be physically fit.
  1. VEHICLE DRIVER

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • A complete secondary school education.
  • Must be the holder of a valid driver’s license for all classes of vehicles and three (3) years of experience as a driver.
  • Experience in Hinterland driving will be an asset.
  • A clear police record for the past five (5) years.
