Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman has directed the police to submit the Ruimveldt Police Station’s diary to the Court following allegations that U.S.-indicted businessmen Nazar and Azruddin Mohamed have violated the conditions of their bail.

As part of their bail conditions in the ongoing extradition committal proceedings, the father and son are required to report to the Ruimveldt Police Station every Friday. However, Special Prosecutor Glenn Hanoman alleged in court that there may have been instances of non-compliance.

Hanoman reported that he compiled a list of the alleged breaches. “There were times when I noticed Mr. Nazar Mohamed was going earlier, and it is technically still a breach. There were also instances where they arrived one or two days late. Mr. Azruddin Mohamed was absent at least twice,” he stated.

He emphasized, “It is not for the father and son to report as they see fit. The pattern indicates that they are failing to comply with the timelines set by the Court.”

Inspector Hinds of the Ruimveldt Police Station, who appeared before the Court, could only provide information from the station diary for the period of March 6. According to the records, Nazar Mohamed reported at 10:00 AM, while Azruddin Mohamed reported around 1:14 PM on the same day.

The Inspector was unable to present records for January and February, explaining that the Station Sergeant, who is responsible for the station diaries, is currently on leave.

Given this shortfall in information, Magistrate Latchman ordered that the station diaries containing the relevant details be submitted to the Court by Monday.

As the extradition committal proceedings continued, Permanent Secretary Sharon Roopchand returned to the witness stand and was cross-examined by Senior Counsel Roysdale Forde, representing Azruddin Mohamed.

Roopchand was questioned about a package she received from the U.S. Embassy containing documents related to the extradition request on November 26, 2025. She confirmed receiving a brown folder from a male courier that morning but was unable to describe the courier’s appearance. She also indicated that she was not required to sign for the document.

Details of her interactions with the courier were not included in her statement to the Court; however, she asserted that the statement was “a full and complete summary” of her handling of the received documents.

Roopchand is expected to return to the witness box on Monday as proceedings continue.
