Kaieteur News Reports : A man has been arrested after allegedly sending threatening photos to his ex-girlfriend via WhatsApp, claiming the images were AI-generated. This incident comes amid ongoing harassment allegations, as the woman has a protection order against him due to years of reported abuse.

The ex-girlfriend has accused the suspect of continuing to harass her with threatening text messages, including threats to shoot her. Recently, he reportedly sent her pictures of himself holding a quantity of 9 mm ammunition.
After receiving these threats, the woman reported the matter to the police but expressed frustration that action was only taken after she contacted the Ministry of Human Services and Social Protection. In a Facebook post, she shared her ordeal, stating, “After having to jump through several hurdles to have him arrested, and an unsuccessful search for the weapon, he told the police… It’s all AI.”
Kaieteur News has confirmed that the suspect was arrested, and a search was conducted at his residence. However, he has since been released on station bail as investigations continue.
The case highlights ongoing concerns about the effectiveness of protective measures for victims of domestic abuse and the challenges they face in seeking justice.
