A 35-year-old man accused of assisting foreign nationals in the bombing of the East Ruimveldt Police Outpost and the Guyana Power and Light (GPL) Georgetown Substation has been granted bail set at $150,000.

Seon Carmichael, of Lot 205 Land of Canaan, East Bank Demerara (EBD), was charged with facilitating a terrorist act. He was initially denied bail during his first court appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court. Following a virtual hearing before Senior Magistrate Fabayo Azore last week, a second bail application made by his attorney, Mikel Puran, was also denied.
However, on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, Carmichael’s attorney approached the High Court seeking bail again. The matter was heard by Justice Damone Younge, who granted bail with specific conditions: Carmichael must lodge his passport and report to the Grove Police Station every first Monday of each month.
The case has been adjourned to July 9, 2025.
