Linden Pitt, a 56‑year‑old mason of Lot 26 Coffee Grove, Lima, Essequibo Coast, was fined $200,000 after pleading guilty to driving while his breath alcohol level exceeded the prescribed limit.

The offence occurred on Monday, March 9, 2026, along Charity Public Road, Essequibo Coast. Pitt appeared before His Worship Magistrate Ravindra Mohabir at the Charity Magistrate’s Court on Monday, March 16, 2026, where the charge under Section 39A(1) of the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Act, Chapter 51:02 (as amended by the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic (Amendment) Act No. 17 of 2022), was read to him. He entered a guilty plea.
Magistrate Mohabir imposed a fine of $200,000. In default of payment, the sentence is six months’ imprisonment.
