Newly appointed Minister of Home Affairs, Hon. Oneidge Walrond, convened her inaugural meeting with the Ministry’s Heads of Department this morning. She was warmly welcomed by senior officials and staff in the Boardroom.

Expressing gratitude for the reception, Minister Walrond emphasized her commitment to collaborative leadership. “This is an opportunity for a reset—a rethink of how we deliver services to our citizens in a growing country,” she stated. She encouraged open dialogue about both challenges and solutions to enhance the ministry’s effectiveness.
Permanent Secretary Andre Ally welcomed the Minister on behalf of the staff, highlighting their readiness to support her leadership. “You have a talented and diverse team. With your guidance and the support of Senior Advisor Mr. Benn, I am confident we can achieve our mandate,” he affirmed.
In a symbolic handover, former Minister Robeson Benn praised the leadership team and expressed confidence in the ministry’s future. “We have set a strong foundation, and I believe continued synergy will enhance our public service delivery,” he noted.
The meeting marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Ministry of Home Affairs as Minister Walrond takes charge of its various agencies.
