The Ministry of Human Services and Social Security is committed to expanding training opportunities for individuals living with disabilities. In a recent initiative, the Ministry partnered with the National Agricultural Research and Extension Institute (NAREI) and the Agriculture Innovation and Entrepreneurship Programme (AIEP) to conduct a comprehensive two-day training session in Region Two.
Held at the Anna Regina State House Annex from June 2 to June 6, the training focused on the “Sustainable Agriculture Level 2” course. Participants engaged in various topics, including organic farming techniques, marketing strategies, vertical and urban gardening, and effective harvesting methods.
In addition to the agricultural training, representatives from the Pesticide Toxic Chemicals Control Board visited the session to educate participants on the safe and unsafe use of chemicals. They also provided protective gear to ensure the safety of the attendees.
This initiative underscores the Ministry’s dedication to empowering persons with disabilities by equipping them with valuable skills and knowledge in sustainable agriculture.
