Azruddin Mohamed, leader of We Invest In Nationhood (WIN), joined Regional Councillor Marlise Morrison to celebrate Ellen Bowen’s 101st birthday at her home in Farm Mahaicony on Saturday.

Ellen Bowen, born on November 6, 1924, in Virginia Village, Cane Grove, East Coast Demerara, later married Cecil Bowen and moved to Mahaicony, where she built a life filled with love and laughter. A devoted mother of seven, two of whom have passed away, she developed a passion for craft and cooking from a young age, eventually becoming a skilled craft teacher with the Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sport.

Bowen traveled throughout Guyana to showcase her craft at exhibitions. A dedicated member of Corpus Christi Anglican Church, her strong faith remains despite limited mobility that prevents her from attending services. Known for her nurturing spirit, she continues to be a source of love and support for her family, currently cared for by her youngest daughter, Dorcil.
