Aubrey C. Norton, MP and Leader of the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR), has issued a statement addressing a misleading headline published by Demerara Waves regarding his recent meeting with ABCEU ambassadors and high commissioners.

In his statement, Norton clarified that during the interview, he was asked whether he was satisfied with the meeting and the proposals made by the diplomatic corps. He affirmed that he was indeed satisfied with the discussions aimed at ensuring free and fair elections.
However, he expressed concern that the article misinterpreted his comments, suggesting that he was satisfied with the mechanisms in place for free and fair elections. “I never said that,” Norton emphasized. “We in the PNCR raised our concerns with the diplomatic community about the conditions that undermine the integrity of the electoral process.”
Norton highlighted specific issues, including a bloated voter list, the registration of ineligible individuals, threats from the PPP against government workers, and the misuse of state resources for campaigning. He reiterated that these factors jeopardize the possibility of free and fair elections in Guyana.
The PNCR leader’s statement underscores the party’s commitment to ensuring electoral integrity and transparency as the nation approaches its upcoming elections.
