Big Smith News Watch Reports | Odel Garnett, also known as “Crab,” has been formally committed to stand trial in the High Court for the murder of seven-year-old Jeremiah Gustave, who tragically lost his life after being struck by a stray bullet during a shooting incident in Charlestown.

Garnett was arrested and charged with murder following the shooting that occurred on July 9, 2024. On Tuesday, February 3, 2026, he was committed to trial at the next practicable sitting of the High Court after a Preliminary Inquiry was held at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court (GMC 3).
The ruling was delivered by Senior Magistrate Fabayo Azore after several witnesses provided testimony and various exhibits were presented in court. The case was prosecuted by Sergeant Lacon.
The murder charge stems from a heartbreaking incident on Charles Street, Charlestown. At the time, six-year-old Jeremiah was sitting at his mother’s food stall when a confrontation between Garnett and another suspect, Marlon Christopher Wilburg, known as “Mice Man,” escalated into gunfire.
Jeremiah was struck in the head by a stray bullet and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) in critical condition. He underwent emergency surgery and spent months receiving medical care, including time in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on life support.
Though he was eventually discharged, Jeremiah tragically succumbed to his injuries on March 29, 2025, at his home on Charles Street, Charlestown. Following his death, the charge against Garnett was upgraded from attempted murder to murder.
Both Garnett and Wilburg were initially charged in connection with the shooting. Further updates on the case are anticipated as it moves forward to the High Court.
