The public is hereby notified of an outbreak of Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD).
We encourage parents and guardians to seek medical attention for children exhibiting symptoms (adults may also be affected, though rarely) and to home isolate for 7 days, as the disease is highly contagious.
HFMD is viral in nature and usually resolves on its own, with or without treatment. However, individuals presenting severe cases (which are uncommon) may require hospitalization for further care.
