Police arrested Rodney Raghubansee, a 52-year-old timber dealer from Turkeyen, East Coast Demerara, last night after he was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm.

At approximately 10:45 PM on Saturday, police officers on motorcycle patrol received reports of a man behaving disorderly on Sandy Babb Street, Kitty. Upon arrival, they discovered Raghubansee seated in the driver’s seat of a vehicle with the registration number PAD 8402. He appeared suspicious and was reportedly under the influence of alcohol.
The police invited Raghubansee out of the vehicle and, with his consent, conducted a search. During the search, they discovered a Taurus (.38) revolver concealed in the waistband of his pants. When asked if he held a firearm license, Raghubansee admitted that he did not.
Raghubansee was informed of the offense, arrested, and cautioned. He was subsequently escorted to the Kitty Police Station, where the firearm was marked, sealed, and lodged as evidence. The suspect remains in custody as the investigation continues.
