Authorities are investigating a tragic stabbing incident that resulted in the death of 49-year-old laborer Gavin Linden Melville, known as “Doggie,” in the early hours of Christmas Day.
Preliminary reports suggest that Melville and a 48-year-old woman—who was in a reputed partnership with him—returned home after attending a social event when a dispute escalated inside their residence. During this altercation, Melville sustained a fatal stab wound to the neck.
Police responded to the scene shortly after 1:15 AM, where they found Melville lying motionless in the living room. He was transported to the De Kinderen Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. The body has since been taken to Ezekiel Funeral Parlour, pending a post-mortem examination.
The woman involved in the incident has been taken into police custody for questioning. She was escorted to the De Kinderen Regional Hospital for a medical examination before being discharged and remains in custody as the investigation continues.
