PPP Declared Winner in General Elections, Secures Continued Government

News Sourcce Guyana Reports : Returning Officers from across Guyana have made their official declarations regarding the election results, indicating that the incumbent People’s Progressive Party (PPP) has emerged victorious, ensuring its continued governance.

While the Elections Commission is yet to make its final declaration, the results from all 10 electoral districts have been published. The PPP has claimed victory in 8 of those districts, with the We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) party securing the remaining 2. The A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) has been left without any wins, losing significant ground to both WIN and the PPP.

In Region 1, the PPP maintained its stronghold with 9,030 votes, while the WIN party garnered 5,716 votes, and the APNU only attracted 469 votes, with 321 ballots rejected.

In Region 2, the PPP/C received 17,478 votes, followed by WIN with 7,400 and APNU with 1,838. Similarly, in Region 3, the PPP/C secured 48,055 votes, with WIN obtaining 12,969 votes and APNU 8,992.

For the first time, the PPP/C achieved a majority in Region 4, earning 87,536 votes compared to APNU’s 46,956 and WIN’s 41,607. Despite a low voter turnout, the PPP managed to increase its vote count by over 9,000 compared to the 2020 elections, while the APNU experienced a significant decline.

In West Berbice (Region 5), the PPP/C won with 18,432 votes, followed by APNU with 6,480 votes and WIN with 5,816. In Region 6, the PPP received 41,320 votes, while WIN garnered 12,623 and APNU 6,223.

Region 7 witnessed the WIN party’s first electoral success, capturing 5,098 votes to the PPP’s 3,577, and relegating the APNU to just 983 votes. In Region 8, the PPP secured victory with 2,872 votes against WIN’s 2,562 and APNU’s 276 votes.

In Region 9, the PPP maintained its position with 9,938 votes, while WIN received 4,817 and APNU just 450. Notably, in Region 10, the WIN party displaced the APNU from its stronghold, winning with 10,548 votes, followed by APNU’s 5,334 and the PPP/C’s 4,260.

When the results are fully tabulated, the Forward Guyana Movement is expected to outperform the Alliance for Change and the Assembly of Liberty and Prosperity.

The Guyana Elections Commission is anticipated to make its final declarations soon, confirming the results of this significant electoral event.
