News Room Guyana Reports | A Sergeant attached to the Guyana Police Force (GPF) is currently hospitalized after sustaining multiple injuries in an accident that occurred in Tucville on Friday.

The injured officer, whose identity has not been disclosed, is stationed at the Brickdam Impact Base. According to a police report, the incident took place around 12:30 PM and involved a GPF ATV, registration number CR 6202, driven by the Sergeant, and a motor lorry, GAG 7559, operated by a Cuban national.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the police ATV was traveling west along Lama Street when the motor lorry, which was headed in the opposite direction, allegedly swerved into the ATV’s path. However, CCTV footage of the incident suggests that the ATV may have swerved into the lorry instead.
The collision resulted in the Sergeant being thrown onto the roadway, where he sustained injuries. He was picked up in a conscious state and initially taken to the Guyana Fire Service Headquarters. Subsequently, he was transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where he is currently being treated for a suspected fractured left leg and other injuries.
The driver of the motor lorry is currently in police custody, and the vehicle has been lodged at the East La Penitence Police Station. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
