Speedboat Passenger Arrested with Over 800 Grams of Cocaine at Bartica

Police in Regional Division number 7 arrested a male passenger on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, after he was found with 875 grams of suspected cocaine at the Bartica Stelling.

At approximately 4:55 PM, a team of police ranks, led by a Detective Sergeant, intercepted an incoming speedboat from Parika. The passenger, exhibiting suspicious behavior, was approached by an officer who requested permission to search him and his belongings. The man consented.

During the search, officers discovered a plastic bag containing a pineapple. Concealed within this bag were twenty-eight smaller packages, which contained a rock-like substance suspected to be cocaine.

The individual was informed of the offense, cautioned, and subsequently arrested. He was taken to the Bartica Police Station, where the suspected narcotics were weighed, totaling 875 grams.

Upon further questioning, the suspect admitted ownership of the narcotics and claimed he was transporting the drugs on behalf of a friend, whose name he provided, residing on Third Avenue in Bartica.

In light of this information, police quickly apprehended the friend mentioned by the suspect. Both men are currently in custody and are assisting with the ongoing investigation.
