Junior Thomas, a 25-year-old labourer from St. Ignatius Village, Central Rupununi, was remanded to prison on Thursday, June 11, 2026, following his appearance at the Lethem Magistrate’s Court.

Thomas appeared before Magistrate Omadatt Chandan to answer a charge of Possession of Narcotics for the Purpose of Trafficking, contrary to Section 5(1)(a)(i) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Control) Act, Chapter 10:10.
The charge stems from his arrest on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, when he was allegedly found in possession of three grams of cocaine.
After the charge was read to him in court, Thomas entered a plea of not guilty. Magistrate Chandan denied bail, and the defendant was remanded to prison. The matter has been adjourned until August 12, 2026.
