Statement from Azruddin Mohamed on Rally Venue Refusals

  • News

My fellow Guyanese,

I want to address a concerning development regarding our efforts to meet with my supporters in Region 2. Recently, we sought permission from the Anna Regina Town Council to host a significant rally at the Anna Regina car park, the same venue where the PPP was able to hold their rally. Unfortunately, our request was denied, with the excuse that the venue was already booked for another event.

In our pursuit to connect with you, we then sought to host our rally at the Charity Community Center ground. Once again, we faced refusal, this time citing safety concerns due to the ground being waterlogged.

As a son of Johanna Sicilia, it pains me to know that I cannot return to my ancestral home to meet with my fellow Ecequibians— the rice farmers, cattle farmers, coconut cultivators, timber harvesters, and dedicated housewives.

While we recognize that scheduling and weather can present genuine challenges, we cannot overlook the pattern emerging here. The repeated refusal of multiple venues raises pressing questions: Is this merely a coincidence, or is there a larger effort underway to prevent me from connecting with you, the people?

I look forward to meeting with you, and come September 1st, we will restore fairness and democracy to this beautiful land of ours. When you vote, vote to bring us into government.

Thank you.
