The offence was committed on Tuesday, 28th April 2026, at Charity Access Road, Essequibo Coast, and was laid under Section 39A (1) of the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Act, Chapter 51:02, as amended by the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic (Amendment) Act 17 of 2022.

The matter was heard on Monday, 4th May 2026, at the Charity Magistrate’s Court before His Worship Magistrate Mr. Ravindra Mohabir. The charge was read to the defendant, who pleaded guilty to the offence.

Robeiro was fined $200,000, or in default, three months imprisonment.

The conviction reflects the government’s continued enforcement of strict penalties for impaired driving, a serious traffic safety violation that endangers both the driver and the public.
