In a significant political development, three new parties—Forward Guyana, the People’s Movement, and the Vigilant Political Action Committee (V-PAC)—have officially united to contest the upcoming General and Regional Elections on September 1, 2025. This coalition will be known as the Forward Guyana Movement.

Amanza Walton-Desir, founder of Forward Guyana, made the announcement during a signing ceremony held at the Cara Lodge Hotel. “This is not just a political alliance; it is a movement of people who have decided that Guyana of the future cannot be left in the past,” she stated. Walton-Desir, who recently departed from the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) after feeling sidelined, emphasized the coalition’s intention to work collaboratively rather than competitively.
Joining her in this initiative are Dorwain Bess of V-PAC and Nigel London of the People’s Movement, who both expressed the importance of partnership and collaboration among stakeholders to improve the lives of Guyanese. They believe their collective efforts can bring about the necessary change for the nation.
During the ceremony, members of the press were informed that no questions would be taken, as a substantive press conference is scheduled for later. Instead, the media was asked to focus on the speakers and ensure clear recordings.
Randolph Critchlow from Forward Guyana later communicated in a WhatsApp group that questions would be addressed on the sidelines. He also mentioned that the media would receive a “gift” for their patience—the signed documents from the coalition.
The Forward Guyana Movement aims to engage voters with a vision for a progressive future, positioning themselves as a formidable force in the upcoming elections.
