Guyana Times Reports : Two men from the Essequibo Coast appeared before Magistrate Ravindra Mohabir at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, with one remanded to prison on a narcotics charge and the other sentenced to imprisonment for malicious damage to property.

Cleon Alphanso, 33, of Henrietta, Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam), was remanded to prison after pleading not guilty to a charge of possession of narcotics. Alphanso was arrested on Wednesday at Anna Regina with 3.2 grams of cocaine and subsequently charged. He will remain in custody until April 30, 2026.
In a separate matter, 48-year-old labourer Poonraj Samaroo of La Belle Alliance, Essequibo, was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment after pleading guilty to malicious damage to property. The offence was committed on Sunday at Anna Regina.
