A desperate appeal has been launched to raise funds for emergency medical treatment for a young child who sustained severe burns while sleeping.

Little Liana suffered devastating burns while sleeping in her bed. She was rushed to the Linden Health Center before being quickly transferred to Georgetown Public Hospital, where she is currently being managed by the hospital’s burn care team.
Liana sustained extensive third-degree burns to her face and scalp, along with serious burns to her chest and right arm. The injuries are severe, and her tiny body is fighting unimaginable pain along with life-threatening complications that often follow major burns, including infection, fluid loss, organ failure, and permanent disfigurement.
Despite the best efforts of her medical team in Guyana, the specialized burn care and reconstructive treatment she urgently needs are not available locally. Doctors have recommended emergency transfer to the United States, where she can receive lifesaving treatment from pediatric burn specialists experienced in managing complex cases like hers.
Every hour matters. Severe burns are among the most painful and dangerous injuries a child can experience. Without access to advanced burn care, skin grafting, reconstructive surgery, and intensive rehabilitation, Liana’s survival is at risk.
SHEA Charity is working urgently to secure Liana’s transfer to the United States and coordinate the specialized medical care she needs. However, the costs for emergency medical transport (medevac) is $70,000 USD, with additional substantial expenses for international patient and family support during treatment.
