About the Role: The Occupational Health Nurse reports to the EMGL Medicine and Occupational Health Manager and is responsible for developing, administering, and delivering occupational health-related clinical systems and services to business line operations. This onshore position interfaces with onshore employees and dependents and involves administrative tasks and overseeing day-to-day case management to ensure quality delivery of occupational health services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate a commitment to the safety and health of all employees.
• Provide services within the professional scope and standards of practice specific to the healthcare of employees.
• Offer guidance on clinical assessments to determine fitness for work or identify health effects of work-related exposures.
• Manage case management for work-related illnesses and injuries, as well as for disabling personal illnesses and injuries.
• Provide advice on illness and injury prevention to employees.
• Participate in emergency responses from an occupational health perspective.
• Offer guidance and feedback on occupational health common systems and improvement opportunities to the EMGL MOH Manager.
• Establish constructive relationships with local medical providers to ensure prompt and appropriate medical services for ill or injured workers.
• Available to speak with patients in person, by phone, or by email, review the care they receive, and escort them to diagnostic centers, specialist appointments, or hospitals, monitoring their care and staying with them if needed.
• Respond and manage non-urgent/urgent cases at the Medicine and Occupational Health Clinic and if required, respond to emergencies at various client locations within and around Georgetown.
• Provide advice and necessary assistance to clients’ local medical support and medical personnel as required.
• Manage and oversee all patient cases entered into the Summit program promptly.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing or equivalent.
• Registered Professional Nurse in Guyana.
• Working knowledge of nursing principles and clinical practice.
• Demonstrated proficiency via professional certifications as needed (e.g., ACLS, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications/Experience:

• Minimum 3 years of working experience, including Primary Care and Emergency Medicine.
• Understanding of emergency/disaster preparedness and response.
• Knowledge of public and occupational health, surveillance, and disease prevention.
• Effective working through others’ attitude.
• Flexibility in working routine and ability to deal with urgent situations.
• Comfortable interacting with senior management in a professional manner displaying utmost integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
