Big Smith News Watch Reports | Quacy McKay, a 29-year-old vendor from Kingston, has been granted $75,000 bail after appearing at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts, where he pleaded not guilty to charges of larceny. The charge stems from an incident on January 24, involving the alleged theft of a gold chain valued at $1.8 million belonging to police officer Trevon Baglore.

During the court proceedings before Senior Magistrate Fabayo Azore, the prosecution opposed bail, citing video footage that they believe captures the alleged theft. The court was informed that investigators had shown McKay this footage during their investigation. However, McKay denied the allegations, asserting that the video only depicted him walking along Robb Street, Georgetown, near another individual, and did not show any criminal activity.
McKay requested reasonable bail, noting that he could not afford a higher amount. Following the submissions, Magistrate Azore set the bail at $75,000 and scheduled the next hearing for February 16.
In a related note, the court reminded that McKay was recently charged in a separate case involving the alleged assault of a visiting content creator. Less than a month ago, he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Faith McGusty, where he pleaded not guilty to using assaultive language likely to cause a breach of the peace and unlawfully assaulting Anthony D’Oliveira, a French YouTuber and travel vlogger.
The allegations state that on January 5, at Saffon Street, La Penitence, McKay struck D’Oliveira on the back of the head while verbally abusing him as the vlogger filmed at the entrance of the market. The prosecution claims its case is supported by video recordings and a recorded interview with the victim.
McKay contended in court that he had repeatedly asked D’Oliveira to stop filming him, claiming that the situation escalated when his requests were ignored. While granting bail in that case, Magistrate McGusty noted that being filmed without consent may offend some individuals but does not justify physical violence. McKay was then placed on $10,000 bail for each charge, totaling $20,000, and ordered to maintain the peace.
