A tragic traffic accident on Saturday night, June 13, 2026, has claimed the life of 22-year-old Manuel Rangel, a Venezuelan national residing in Bath Settlement.

According to preliminary police reports, the collision occurred at approximately 8:00 p.m. on the Bath Settlement Public Road. A 31-year-old driver was proceeding east along the northern side of the road in a motor car (license plate PXX 3825) when Rangel, operating an electric cycle, reportedly pulled from the southern side of the road directly into the path of the vehicle.
The collision with the front right side of the car threw Rangel onto the roadway, resulting in severe injuries. Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the incident and transported an unconscious Rangel to the Bath Regional Hospital. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries a short time later.
Rangel’s death has deeply impacted his circle of friends and colleagues, who described him as a hardworking individual who migrated to Guyana in search of better opportunities to support his family back in Venezuela. His loss is particularly devastating as colleagues noted that his wife is currently pregnant.
