Daljit, a resident of Lot 14 Bath Settlement, Region Five, stood before Magistrate Michelle Matthias to answer to an indictable charge alleging that he engaged in sexual penetration with a 26-year-old woman without her consent on June 11, 2026.

Given the nature of the charge, Daljit was not required to enter a plea. During the hearing, the prosecution stated that investigations into the matter are complete. Magistrate Matthias granted bail in the amount of G$250,000, subject to several strict conditions:

Stay-away Order: The defendant must maintain a distance of at least 50 feet from the virtual complainant at all times.

Court Attendance: He is required to attend all scheduled hearings.

Compliance: The court warned that any breach of these conditions could result in the immediate revocation of his bail and his remand to prison until the conclusion of the trial.

The case has been adjourned to June 29, 2026, for the filing of statements.

According to reports presented in connection with the investigation, the incident occurred at the home of the victim, who is the defendant’s sister-in-law. It is alleged that Daljit entered the residence and initially requested a “birthday present,” before making explicit sexual demands. When the woman refused, it is alleged that he disregarded her objections and forced the encounter before fleeing the premises. The victim subsequently reported the incident to the police and sought medical attention.
