Inews Guyana Reports : A 27-year-old woman is hospitalised in stable condition after being shot multiple times by a former partner outside her home in Region Six on Saturday afternoon, in what police are treating as a targeted attack.

The victim, self-employed Vasanti Gordon of Islington Village, East Bank Berbice, was sitting in her motor car at approximately 16:50 hours on April 11, 2026, when the suspect a 28-year-old unemployed man of Fort Ordinance Housing Scheme, East Canje, Berbice approached her armed with a handgun, discharged several rounds in her direction, and struck her to the head with the weapon.
Gordon was taken to the New Amsterdam Regional Hospital, where she was examined and admitted with suspected gunshot injuries to her right leg and thigh. Her condition is listed as stable.
According to police reports, the victim and the suspect had previously been in a relationship but separated recently. A spent shell recovered from inside Gordon’s motor car has been processed as part of the ongoing investigation.
The suspect has not yet been arrested and is actively being sought by police. This publication understands that the individual is known to law enforcement and has been implicated in several high-profile matters in the region. He is currently before the courts in connection with a multi-million dollar robbery at the Regional Democratic Council of Region Six.
