HGP Nightly News Reports : The Guyana Police Force has confirmed that three ballot boxes being escorted from Berbice were safely delivered to GECOM headquarters in Georgetown following an accident on the East Coast Demerara public road.

The incident occurred around 20:55 hours and involved three vehicles: Minibus #BAB 6899, Motor Car #PXX 7899, and Minibus #BAL 2180. According to police reports, Minibus #BAB 6899 was transporting Ballot Box #DF048 from the Central Police Station, followed by Motor Car #PXX 7899 carrying Ballot Box #DF047, and Minibus #BAL 2180, which held Ballot Box #DF050 from Whim Police Station. All vehicles were under police escort by Force Motorcar #PAB 8212.

The accident was triggered when an unknown vehicle emerged from the LBI Access Road into the path of the police escort, prompting the police vehicle to brake sharply. This sudden stop caused Minibus #PXX 7899 to collide with the rear of Minibus #BAB 6899, leading to Minibus #BAL 2180 crashing into Minibus #PXX 7899.

Several passengers sustained injuries and were promptly transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation for treatment. Despite the collision, the ballot boxes were successfully escorted to GECOM headquarters, where they remain secure ahead of the upcoming elections.
