Breaking : Businessman Brutally Killed in Coomacka Brawl

A night of leisure turned tragic on Sunday, August 31, 2025, when 49-year-old businessman Courtney Evans was brutally attacked and killed during a violent confrontation at Coomacka Mines Beach.

Police reports indicate that Evans, a resident of New York visiting his hometown, suffered severe injuries in the clash. He was stabbed in the lower back, struck in the head, and slashed at the elbow. Despite being rushed to Linden Hospital Complex, he succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.

The deadly altercation began when Evans, his brother Tyrone, and their friend arrived at the beach for drinks. They encountered a group of four men and a woman who were also consuming alcohol. Tensions escalated after the woman allegedly insulted Tyrone, leading to a heated argument that quickly escalated into violence.

Witnesses described a chaotic scene as the two groups clashed before the female and her companions fled in a white minibus, leaving behind a scene of carnage.

In addition to Courtney’s death, three others were injured:

Tyrone Evans, 47, suffered a deep gash to the forehead.

Joel Harding, 28, sustained stab wounds to his left arm and right elbow.

Evan Herman, 28, incurred two serious head wounds and was rushed into surgery; his condition is now stable.

Courtney’s body is currently at G. Jestco Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination.

Authorities have arrested a 22-year-old female teacher, believed to have instigated the violence, along with one male suspect. Both are in custody assisting with the investigation, while a manhunt is underway for additional suspects who fled the scene.
