Casell Nurse, a 28-year-old contractor from Freeman Street, East La Penitence, Georgetown, was arrested late Saturday night for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. The arrest occurred around 11:50 PM in the vicinity of D’Urban Backlands.

Police were on mobile patrol duty when they noticed a group of men gathered near a shop. As officers approached, they observed Nurse, who was wearing a white jersey and blue shorts, retrieve a handgun from his waistband and discard it on the ground nearby.
One of the officers, a Sergeant, quickly seized the discarded firearm, identified as a 9MM pistol, which contained fifteen live rounds of ammunition. When questioned, Nurse admitted he was not a licensed firearm holder.
Following his arrest, Nurse was informed of the charges against him and was escorted to the East La Penitence Police Station. There, his fingerprints were collected, and the firearm was processed for latent fingerprint analysis. Police conducted checks in the area for any spent shells but found none.
Nurse remains in custody as investigations continue, pending formal charges.
