WIN Party Presidential Candidate Azruddin Mohamed Addresses Nation on Election Irregularities

In a passionate address to the nation, Azruddin Mohamed, the presidential candidate for the We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) party, highlighted serious concerns regarding the recent elections, which he claims were marred by significant irregularities.

“My fellow Guyanese citizens, we have arrived at a critical point in the history of our nation,” Mohamed began, emphasizing the gravity of reports he has received in the days following the elections. He detailed allegations of missing statements of poll, ballot box tampering, and widespread victimization across the country.

Mohamed raised alarm over claims that non-residents, including individuals from Bangladesh, India, and Venezuela, were allowed to vote, asserting that such actions undermine the core principles of democracy. “We have seen suspicious activity in the polling places and political manipulation on a scale that cannot be overlooked,” he stated.

He accused the incumbent People’s Progressive Party (PPP) of employing state resources for campaigning and attempting to buy votes with offers of land, materials, and cash amounts ranging from 500,000 to 800,000 Guyanese dollars. In particular, he drew attention to reports of vote purchasing and harassment in Amerindian communities, calling these behaviors “deplorable” and non-democratic.

“Let us be blunt. These elections were neither free nor fair,” Mohamed declared, asserting that it is politically impossible for the PPP to have won in regions where they have minimal support. He criticized the use of taxpayer money in the PPP’s campaign, describing it as a betrayal of the Guyanese people.

He recounted witnessing PPP supporters stationed outside polling stations, intimidating voters and creating an atmosphere of fear. “This is not democracy. This is dictatorship,” he insisted.

The WIN party has formally requested a recount and awaits confirmation. However, Mohamed emphasized that, regardless of the outcome, their mission remains unchanged. “We will never abandon, neglect, or disrespect you, the Guyanese people,” he assured.

Reflecting on the challenges faced during the campaign, Mohamed expressed gratitude to his supporters for their dedication and perseverance in the face of intimidation. “You stood beside me and fought for the WIN movement, even when your hands were tied due to victimization,” he said.

To those who cast their votes for change, Mohamed expressed his appreciation: “I am grateful for you and your trust in me and my government.” He acknowledged the disappointment of not achieving the expected results but urged the public not to lose hope. “We will not be silenced. We will not retreat. The WIN party will continue to be your voice,” he vowed.

In closing, Mohamed highlighted the struggles faced by vulnerable populations in Guyana, including single mothers, pensioners, and unemployed youth. “This is not the end. Our movement is stronger than ever,” he declared, pledging that they will fight to protect democracy and ensure that every citizen has an equal chance for a better future.

“Thank you, and may God bless our beautiful nation,” he concluded.
