Alleged Serial Burglar Remanded in Essequibo Coast Court

Kobe Emmanuel Stephen, a 19-year-old laborer from Dartmouth, was remanded to prison on Thursday after facing multiple charges related to a series of burglaries in the Essequibo Coast region.

Stephen appeared before Magistrate Ravindra Mohabir at the Suddie Magistrates’ Court, where he was charged with three counts of break and enter and larceny, as well as one count of burglary.

According to police reports, Stephen allegedly committed the burglaries between August 17 and 18, targeting the home of Sherluck Hopkinson and breaking into the property of Naranjanauth Persaud during the same timeframe. Additionally, he is accused of unlawfully entering the properties of Raymond Naranjanauth and Raymond Aaron between August 14 and 15.

Stephen pleaded not guilty to all charges. Following the hearing, he was remanded to prison and is scheduled to return to court on September 23, 2025, for further proceedings. The case highlights ongoing concerns about crime in the region as local authorities continue to address burglary incidents.
