APNU Supporter Nia Gonsalves Urges Acceptance of Election Results

News

Nia Gonsalves, a prominent supporter of the A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) and former executive member of the PNC’s youth arm, is calling for the party to accept the results of Monday’s General and Regional Elections.

In a social media post, Gonsalves stated that while the ongoing recount may create concerns about vote discrepancies, she believes these issues will not alter the election outcome. “We need to accept the results, acknowledge the winner, and move on as a country,” she emphasized.

According to the declared results, the PPP/C won the elections with 242,498 votes, leading by over 100,000 votes against the We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) party, which received 109,066 votes. The APNU, contesting independently, garnered only 77,998 votes, while the AFC secured 3,610 votes. Gonsalves concluded that the fight for a better Guyana continues, urging an end to prolonged disputes over the election results.
