News Source Guyana Reports : A massive fire on James Street, Albouystown, destroyed four buildings this afternoon, leaving several families homeless despite the efforts of the Guyana Fire Service.

The fire erupted just before 3:00 PM, nearly flattening half of a block. Among those affected was 26-year-old Kelly-ann Andrews, who lost all her belongings while asleep with her three children. “I woke up to the sound of flames and ran out,” she recounted.
Another victim, a 22-year-old mother of two, was visiting her mother when she received the news about the fire. “I just rented this place a week ago, and now everything is gone,” she said tearfully.
Azeem Dyal, a 31-year-old father, arrived home to find his residence in ashes. He heard that the fire may have started from someone burning copper nearby.
Divisional Fire Officer Otis Charles reported that six fire tenders were deployed to the scene. By the time they arrived, one building was fully engulfed, and another was beginning to catch fire. Firefighters worked to salvage surrounding structures.
The Guyana Police Force and EMTs were also on site to provide assistance. An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway as those affected seek shelter with family and friends.
