A tragic accident on the Charity New Road has resulted in the death of a motorcyclist and serious injuries to another. The deceased has been identified as 27-year-old Daniel Gray, a resident of Somerset and Berks, Essequibo Coast. The injured man is 31-year-old Alex Jaigopaul, also from the Essequibo Coast.

The accident occurred around 15:20 hours on Saturday, September 13, 2025, as both men were riding separate motorcycles eastward on the northern driving lane behind motorcar PAC 697.

Investigations reveal that the two motorcyclists were riding side by side when the driver of the car signaled to turn south into a Chinese supermarket. As he made the turn, both motorcyclists collided with the right side of the vehicle, causing them to be thrown into the air and land on the southern parapet of the supermarket.

Both riders sustained injuries. The driver of the motorcar, Patrick Murray, a 24-year-old pastor from Charity, was also present at the scene.

All involved were transported to the Oscar Joseph Charity Cottage Hospital, where they were examined by Dr. Mahase. Daniel Gray was pronounced dead upon arrival, while Alex Jaigopaul was admitted with multiple fractures to his left foot. Patrick Murray suffered facial injuries.

Both Jaigopaul and Murray were later transferred to the Lima Regional Hospital for further medical treatment.
